This is the new picture for my upcoming advice column....

I feel as though I shouldn't have to say this...but I must. Assuming most of the people that read this blog are adults this should apply to all of you. Believe it or not, you are responsible for your own life and your own happiness. Shocking, I know. If you live your life hurting people or just being a shit head in general your life is going to blow. It's karma man, it's just the way shit works. Let's be real, there's no way you can go through life being a bad person and causing harm unto others without realizing it either, so for crying out loud people, just be nice, chill out a bit and live life in a more positive manner. Spend more time with your family and friends, do things that make you genuinely happy. (Genuinely happy meaning you don't need to be under the influence of mind altering substances to enjoy whatever the particular activity is, and don't give me the whole "I don't have to be I just like it" bullshit, that's a cop out, we all know it.) So, find that thing, then do it a lot, tons, every day. Your life will be better and in turn the lives of people around you will be better. You ever notice that when someone in your immediate vicinity is all pissy it tends to make everyone real sour, the shit works both ways folks, so head the other direction. Hear me clucking?
Like I said, I feel I shouldn't even have to post this, but it's my blog so I get to put whatever I want up here and I'm pretty sick of all the negative b.s. people seem to be spouting lately; putting down other guys and gals, ragging on their job, their city, their "friends" whatever it might be. Knock it off. Grow up. Be happy and a better influence to the people around you. That shit comes around full circle, trust me homeys, it's well worth it even if sometimes you feel like you're forcing the smile. It works out in the end. The children are the future. The early bird gets the worm. Always wear clean underwear. A penny saved is a penny earned. (Figured I should throw that stuff in for good measure)
I'm done dropping knowledge on you for now.
Have a stellar day.
J.

If Your Gonna Be Dumb... - Roger Alan Wade

The Rox/Tav has closed. Bummer.

Yes, a cool bar in St. Cloud closed today. Yes, it sucks that people lost their jobs over it. However, there wasn't anything specific about that bar that made it so great, it was the people there. If so many people feel as though they've lost their regular bar then we'll just take over another one. There wasn't anything extraordinary about it besides the people that patronized it, and we're still around. So there.

-On a side note, I did meet my lady gal there so thanks to the Rox for that.

If - Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Her

I'm an open book to any and everyone, as you can probably tell from the site since I post a lot about myself and my activities. I've been asked a lot recently why there isn't more about "her" up here. Well, some things I just like to keep to myself. Good things like this don't come around often and I just don't feel the need to throw it around the interweb. It's one part of my life that I just don't broadcast. I just throw an occasional picture up so everyone else can enjoy a little sunshine. So there. Don't ask me about it again.

Oh no!

Was on SCSU's campus yesterday, saying hello to my mother of course, and came across this. I'm worried about Lumpy.

Oh this is such good news for everyone...

Andy Gonzo has started his own food blog!! I could not be happier about this, I love Andy, but I love watching what this dude eats even more. He eats like he wasn't hugged enough as a child. I once watched him split a double down KFC sandwich apart, add potatoes and corn, put it back together and dip it in gravy. No shit, right? Andy takes his caloric intake very seriously and he eats like a man should eat, lots of meat. Plus he's funny as all get out so I'm sure the blog will be good reading as well. So folks, here's the link: Bacon Is Love enjoy yourself. Consider this your warning; it may get scary in there....
